Five Questions With......JA Konrath

JA Konrath is the author of the Jack Daniels series of thrillers and also horror novels

1) What got you interested in writing?

I heard that you can make millions of dollars and become famous being a writer.

I heard wrong.

But all that stuff about art and creativity and self-expression, I bet that's important too, maybe.

2) What made you interested in the genre in general and why write in it?

I love to read thrillers, mysteries, and horror novels, so it made sense I write in those genres. I also write romantic comedies about space hogs, but that's a tougher genre to sell in.

3) Tell us your latest work.

Just finished CHERRY BOMB, the sixth Lt. Jack Daniels thriller. I also wrote a horror novel called AFRAID, which is coming out under the name Jack Kilborn.

Currently, you can find some funny/gory novellas of mine at http://www.horror-mall.com/ under the titles SUCKERS and LIKE A CHINESE TATTOO.

4) What is next up for you?

I think I'm going to take a bath, then maybe have a couple of beers.

5) If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead, from this genre who would it be?

Thomas Harris. During lunch, I'd praise him relentlessly for RED DRAGON and SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. Then, after lunch, I'd slap him for HANNIBAL.

As for dead guys, I'd love to have lunch with John D. MacDonald, of Travis McGee fame. But he probably wouldn't be very talkative, and might also smell really bad.
