I am pleased to tell you about a new series of books and a new author comiung out next year. The Marked series by S.J. Day will be released in the middle of 2009. To tell more we have her on here early.
1) What got you interested in writing?
Reading. Seeing stories unfold and thinking, "What a great idea! But I would have done [insert idea] with it." Wanting to read a certain type of story and not being able to find it. In the case of the MARKED series, I enjoy urban fantasy written in third-person multi-POV and it was difficult to find.
2) What made you interested in the genre in general and why write in it?
I can do anything in urban fantasy. I can mix the familiar with theunfamiliar. I can use reality as an anchor for the riotous fantastical. I'm grounded by the real world but freed by my imagination. It's fun. :)
3) Tell us about your latest work.
EVE OF DARKNESS is the launch book in my upcoming back-to-back urban fantasy trilogy with Tor. The story follows protagonist Evangeline Hollis, an attractive successful woman living in Orange County, CA. She is drafted into service for God via the Mark of Cain. She quickly discovers that there are thousands of "Marks" around the world, hunting Infernals within an organized yet autonomous system of "firms" headed by the seven archangels. Eve is mentored by Cain, overseen by Abel, and manipulated by the archangels... all while being devoutly agnostic.
4) What is next up for you?
I'm still working on wrapping up the first three books in the MARKED series. My editor has already discussed writing more Eve books, so I may follow along with Eve on more adventures. I also have a supernatural horror trilogy that I'm eager to write (I have the first quarter of the first book already written). Really, I'm game for anything.
5) If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead, from this genre who would it be?
Not necessarily from this genre, but... Sir Arthur Charles Clarke.
Thanks to S.J. Day for her time. You can find her and when to find the books at www.SJDay.net
